Goals, Objectives, Strategies & Tactics (2025)

GOALS

To enhance social integration by facilitating ready access to workplaces, classrooms, homes, recreational spaces, or other settings for people sidelined by limited functional abilities because they can't readily meet the challenges of daily living.

OBJECTIVES

To increase meaningful social connections and make daily living more interactive for people sidelined by limited functional abilities that make it difficult for them to do everyday tasks.

STRATEGIES

To achieve our goal of greater social integration, it is crucial to research and develop more cutting-edge and transformative solutions allowing people sidelined by functional limitations to achieve rich personal successes. We will prioritize funding for high potential projects within the following strategic focus areas:

1. Adaptive Resources and Technology

  • Seeking research using universal design principles to develop new assistive technology providing greater physical accessibility.

  • Supporting practical solutions that address mobility, communication, and behavioral challenges by adapting everyday spaces to reduce the impact of degenerative disability, chronic illness, or severe injury.

2. Fully Integrated Artistic Creations

  • Seeking inclusive arts and media projects that deepen public understanding of the challenges faced by individuals sidelined by limited functional abilities.

  • Supporting productions involving people of all abilities at every stage—from concept to performance—building new skills and telling authentic stories by, with, and about this often-overlooked segment of the population.

3. Accessible Careers and Technical Education:

  • Seeking new adaptive and inclusive approaches in both job training and transitional learning.

  • Supporting scholarships, social enterprises, and replication of successful programs that increase meaningful connections between this group and peers outside their typical daily interactions.

4. Improved Health and Well-Being

  • Seeking projects providing greater access to nature and outdoor recreation activities alongside peers.

  • Supporting breakthroughs in non- pharmaceutical therapies and treatments mitigating the emotional and psychological impacts of chronic disability, degenerative illness, or life-altering injury.

TACTICS

To align with our stated objective of increased social connections for those sidelined by functional limitations due to chronic or degenerative health conditions, we target programs in the following categories:

1. Adaptive Resources and Technology

  • Ensure this group has the tools and technology needed to engage fully in society—grounded in proven or evidence-based research and development.

  • Design, manufacture, distribute, or train end users in adaptive technology that enables this group to participate more independently in community ventures.

  • Develop universal design principles to make workplaces, schools, and public spaces more interactive, accessible, and inclusive.

  • Earn revenue by selling adaptive devices, technology, curriculum, or environmental enhancements for greater mobility, self-care, and creative expression.

2. Fully Integrated Artistic Creations

  • Ensure that those sidelined by functional limitations receive the training or assistance needed to freely participate in any phase of an arts or media production.

  • Design productions by, with, and about people sidelined by functional limitations that feature authentic stories, illustrate their experiences, and increase public empathy.

  • Develop showcases or demonstrations of fine, practical, or performing arts that raise awareness, stimulate discussion, and drive realistic community integration solutions.

  • Earn revenue by selling art and media products that actively include people sidelined by functional limitations as part of the creative, technical, and administrative teams.

3. Accessible Careers and Technical Education

  • Ensure projects build pathways that improve cognitive health, financial well-being, physical accessibility, or personal bests for this group to realize their dreams.

  • Design job training programs leading to meaningful career options for people in this group who are involuntarily excluded from the workforce.

  • Develop alternative learning models and scholarships that lead to peer-approved, accredited certificates and degrees improving the chances of stable employment.

  • Earn revenue by selling practical, field-based curricula applying these principles to augment employment options, business leadership skills, and transitional learning.

4. Improved Health and Well-Being

  • Ensure improved mental wellbeing by increasing access to nature and outdoor activities.

  • Design accessible sports, games, excursions, and adventures that accommodate this group as needed in order to be accepted more meaningfully in their communities.

  • Develop accessible outdoor facilities and programs that foster social participation by this group with peers beyond their routine care-giving networks.

  • Earn revenue by selling non-pharmaceutical breakthroughs in healthcare that reduce isolation, provide equitable access to nature, and expand therapeutic recreation to people sidelined.
